Review of the Conference “Chronic Pain in Interdisciplinary Discourse”
At the beginning of May 2026, the HEAD-Genuit Foundation hosted the scientific conference “Chronic Pain in Interdisciplinary Discourse” in Cologne. The aim of the conference was to bring together current research projects on chronic pain from different disciplines and to foster interdisciplinary exchange.
The event brought together experts from medicine, psychology, physics, osteopathy, medical ethics, and philosophy. The focus was on nine ongoing research projects exploring different approaches to the development, perception, and treatment of chronic pain.
An open and lively atmosphere of discussion emerged already during the get-together and shared dinner on the evening before the conference, shaping the exchange throughout the entire event.
Despite the intentionally concise presentation format, participants gained comprehensive insights into the methods, research questions, and perspectives of the individual projects. The subsequent discussions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue and gave rise to new questions as well as potential thematic connections between the various research approaches.
The HEAD-Genuit Foundation would like to sincerely thank all speakers for their contributions, their intensive preparation, and their committed participation in the conference.
Once again, the conference demonstrated how valuable interdisciplinary exchange is for achieving a deeper understanding of chronic pain phenomena. The Foundation looks forward to continuing the conversations initiated during the conference and to supporting future collaborations.
